HUMAN HAIR VS. SYNTHETIC: CARE DIFFERENCES

When choosing between human hair and synthetic wigs, you need to understand that the care requirements differ. Both human hair and synthetic wigs are beautiful when you wear them but they both have different maintenance routines. Knowing how to care for both of them can help increase their lifespan and make it fresh.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF HUMAN HAIR

Washing: When washing the human hair, use sulfate-free shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner to prevent it from drying out. It should be washed when worn for about every 7-10 wears.

Moisturizing: Human hair needs to be moisturized regularly. Leave-in conditioners, natural oils, and heat protectants are okay to use for human hair to avoid dryness. However, too much product can weigh the wig down.

Detangling: Human hair tangles less but still requires gentle detangling with a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends to the top. If you start from up, it will tangle more. It can be shed more if handled roughly.

Storage: Human hair can be stored on a mannequin head or a wig stand to retain its shape.

Longevity and durability: With proper care, human hair lasts from 1-3 years. Human hair can be restyled and recolored, making the wig a long-term investment.

Heat and styling: Human hair allows heat styling, including blow drying, curling, and straightening. Always apply heat protectant to avoid damage.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A SYNTHETIC WIG

Washing: Synthetic hair needs washing after 10 to 15 wears. It must be washed only with synthetic wig shampoo. Using regular shampoo can damage the synthetic wig. The synthetic wig should not be scrubbed, instead, that should be gently handled. Allow the wig to air dry naturally without any heat.

Moisturizing: When moisturizing the synthetic wig avoid using oil and heavy cream because they can make the fabric look weak. Use only wig spray or detanglers made for synthetic wigs only.

Detangling: Synthetic wigs tangle more easily. You can detangle the wig only when it is dry using a wide-tooth comb or fingers. Overbrushing of synthetic wigs can cause fiber damage. When you want to detangle start from the end to up.

Storage: Synthetic wigs can be stored properly in a satin bag or on a wig stand which reduces friction.

Longevity and durability: With proper care, synthetic wigs can last up to 6 months. They are less durable but maintain their original style before and after washing.

Heat: Not all synthetic wigs can handle heat unless they are labeled heat-friendly. Applying heat to the wig can melt or permanently damage the fibers. Styling synthetic wigs can be done with fingers or using rollers with warm water. Avoid heavy damage because it will damage the fiber.

In conclusion, Human hair wigs offer flexibility and are also for long-term use but require more maintenance and cost. Synthetic wigs are affordable, low-maintenance, and convenient but have styling limits. Choosing the right wig depends on your lifestyle, budget, and willingness to maintain it.
